Name: CIT4VET – Open Online Catalogue of Intercultural Tools for Vocational Education and Training Intercultural competencies (IC) are essential to be effective in today's culturally diverse reality. The importance of IC has been recognised by the European Commission and is being acknowledged by more and more educational entities. Nonetheless, the extent to which intercultural competence development is included in education varies from country to country. Many countries still haven’t included intercultural education in key education pathways. The situation is even worse when it comes to the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and VET trainers in particular. As a result, there are many VET trainers who are experts in their field, but when it comes to knowledge or experience in delivering their lessons to students from different backgrounds, they have to fill this gap by looking for the right tools on their own. Considering that vocational training can be an effective means of integration for people who have migrated to Europe following the migratory flows imposed by globalisation, helping the trainers in their further development also promotes social inclusion. |
To improve and increase the ability of VET Trainers to provide intercultural training to learners from other countries in Bulgaria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands and Poland by the end of 2020. The project will achieve this through offering easy access to tools in the area of intercultural learning and providing training materials, including instructions on how to apply theory to intercultural training. In particular, the specific objective is to design and implement an innovative Open Online Catalogue of Intercultural Tools which will be an online application available as an Open Education Resource. |

The testing phase is completed and the CIT4VET project partnership met - albeit virtually due to the Covid19 emergency - for the final meeting on Friday, September 11th.
Despite the distance, the online meeting took place in the usual atmosphere of extreme harmony and understanding between the partners, who analyzed the feedback collected during the testing phase of the project during which the Open Online Catalogue and the Guidelines were browsed and tested by Professional Trainers and Representatives of Vocational Training Bodies.
The official testing of CIT4VET products in Bulgaria started on 25th June 2020 and lasted for 6 weeks - until August 7th, 2020. The online platform was tested by more than 40 VET representatives and trainers who provided useful feedback both for the strengths and benefits of the platform and recommendations for its improvement.
The results from the evaluation survey show that CIT4VET products were highly assessed and well accepted by the testers. 95,1% of the respondents think that the Online Database has increased their knowledge about existing educational tools and resources in the field of intercultural competences. Exactly the same percentage (95,1%) of users stated that the tools and information provided in the CIT4VET products will help them be interculturally more aware and competent and will help them respond better to the needs of a culturally diverse groups of learners.
The Bulgarian multiplier event in the frame of CIT4VET project was organized on 9th July 2020 in Ramada by Wyndham Sofia City Center, shortly after the pilot versions of the platform and products were finalized and released for testing, considering the possibility of tightening the anti-epidemic measures in September and the impossibility of holding the event then.
In addition to the detailed presentation of the project, the partners, the implemented activities and created products, the event was a priceless opportunity for a direct meeting with representatives of the target group and a demonstration of the different types of materials and resources in the platform.

After months of hard, but fruitful work, the #CIT4VET project partnership is almost at the finish line!
The project intellectual outputs are developed, translated in national languages and ready to be tested by the main target group they are intended to help – VET trainers and VET representatives.
Here is a brief overview of each CIT4VET product:
An integral part of the Open Online Catalogue of Intercultural Tools are the training materials about culture - e-learning materials, with exercises and tests allowing for self-assessment of intercultural competences.
The online training modules aim to help VET trainers to enhance their own cultural understanding as well as that of their students. The modules will help VET trainers to better understand their own and their student’s cultural background(s) by providing basic intercultural information, up-to-date intercultural models, tried-and-tested exercises and valid and reliable questionnaires allowing for self-assessment of own value orientations and intercultural competences.
The training material is divided into five modules which give an introduction to relevant intercultural topics.
