We are pleased to inform you that the research under the project GOLIC GUIDE - Guide to linguistic competence for tourist guides and tour leaders (2014-1-PL01-KA202-003400) was successfully implemented!
The research was conducted simultaneously in 6 European countries (Bulgaria, Poland, Spain, Gemany, Italy and Turkey) and its aims were:
• to specify the level at which language courses (modules) for Tourist Guides should be developed;
• to specify the language that will be dedicated to the target group in each country;
• to specify the most relevant situations tourist guide have to face and in which language that will be dedicated to Tourist Guides in each country;
• tospecify the functionality of m-learning solutions, adapted to the needs of the Tourist Guides.
The project met with great interest on the part of the target group and other stakeholders. Know and Can Association carries out regular communication with representatives of 365 Association, which is behind the initiative Free Sofia Tour, Free Varna Tour and Free Plovdiv Tour (the largest and successful tourist guidance service in the country) and the Union of Bulgarian tour guides – Bоurgascity.
The study was conducted within seven weeks - since the beginning of February 2015 to the middle of March 2015. In therealization process Know and Can Association contacted more than 1000 different representatives of the tourism sector. As a result were collected 30 completed special questionnaires, and after detailed analysis of the received answers was drawn up a detailed report on the state of the tourism industry in the country, as well as the professional and educational needs of the tourist guides related to the improvement of their foreign language skills.
