Time for Partnership meeting of the UP2B project, which aims to increase the attractiveness of school, reduce drop-out rate, facilitate the transition process between the education system and the labour market, promote European citizenship and values.
Our hosts are Rīgas Pārdaugavas Elementary school, in Riga, Latvia welcomed us very warmly, with music and dance performances by the students. We walked around the school, visited the rooms where the classes take place such as: computer science, photo studio, music, English, mathematics, literature, etc. We were able to get actively involved in physical therapy and art classes that make connections with other subjects, such as chemistry and biology. Some of us made fish out of clay and others painted in chemistry class with our own paint made from flour, salt, oil and food colouring. Finally, the whole group worked out in the physical therapy room under the guidance of a licensed physical therapist. We are now in the Erasmus+ classroom where we discuss the progress of the project and the remaining activities until the end. We are discussing the finalization of the products: an online platform with learning resources and tools; an attractive handbook that will clearly demonstrate the interrelationships between the different professions and subjects and a Compendium with pedagogical tools related to citizenship and the labour market - short, practical and attractive activities aimed at increasing students' motivation and engagement.
