Activities
To research, analyse and assess partner countries’ specific judicial practices in cases of sexual violence against children with a particular emphasis on the child’s experience of the procedures.
To assess existing gaps in relation to the training needs of professionals involved in the judicial procedures in cases of sexual violence against children.
To highlight good practices on child-friendly judicial procedures in cases of sexual violence against children through a comprehensive GPMap (Good Practices Map) to be used as a reference for professionals in future judical procedures.
Objectives
A1.1: Partner organisations critically reviewed country specific judicial procedures in cases of sexual violence against children in the light of international guidelines and recommendations.
A1.2: Partner organisations researched the child’s perspective on judicial procedures in cases of sexual violence. Whenever ethical and legally viable, interviews were conducted with children that have been through the procedures, or adults that have had the experience as children. Alternatively, interviews were conducted with professionals (such as mental health professionals) closely working with children.
A1.3: Focus Groups with Stakeholders (judges, lawyers, police officers, social welfare officers, health workers including psychologists, NGOs working with child victims) were conducted to assess, at national level, their training needs.
A1.4: Country reports were produced based on the outcomes from the desk-research, interviews, and focus group conducted in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Italy, Slovenia and Sweden.
A1.5: Translated country reports from partners’ language into English.
A1.6: Web-based Interactive Good Practices Map (GP Map) on child-friendly justice in cases of sexual violence against children. Among its features the GP Map includes links to best practices on training programmes, and regular updates, on country and European developments related to child-friendly justice.
A1.7: The web-based GP Map is translated into partner countries’ languages.
