On the 29-th of February 2012 a contract for the implementation of project “Design Thinking in Tourism” was signed.
The main aim of the project is to give opportunity to trainers in the field of non- formal education and managers of small and medium hotels in the Rhodope Region to enrich their knowledge and improve their skills for effective management by using innovative models and good practices in the sphere of tourist and hotel management based on design thinking in business and social media. Coordinator of the project is Know and Can Association – Bulgaria and partners are: Association of Rhodope Municipalities – Smolyan, Bulgaria and CIBER ESPACIO – Spain.

Specific aims:
•    To stimulate the development of professional capacity of managers from small and medium hotels by informing them about the modern forms for effective management, including design thinking in business, social media and Internet
•    To enrich the knowledge and improve the skills of trainers in non – formal education, thus increasing the capacity of their organizations and the variety of provided courses in the context of lifelong learning.
•    To analyze the condition of the hotel business in Rhodope Region, its role for the development of tourism in Bulgaria in general, and the possibilities for improvement the hotel services by using instruments based on ICT, in particular.
•    To increase the level of adaptation of this sector to the modern requirements of the market.
•    To use modern ICT as an instrument for implementation of innovative practices, in order to increase the competitiveness and the quality of offered services.
•    To elaborate and integrate tourist management strategies directed to creation of models for providing quality services answering the requirements of the European market.
•    To build networks of stakeholders in the sphere of hotel management and tourism, oriented to providing quality services for their clients.
