Connecting Passion, Empowerment, and Civic Engagement
In a world where civic engagement among the youth is more critical than ever, the European Union has taken a pioneering step towards fostering a sense of purpose and connection within the younger generation. The "Directed By You(th)" project, funded by the EU, is a beacon of hope, addressing issues of civic apathy, disenfranchisement, and low democratic trust among European youth.
This innovative initiative seeks to engage, empower, and connect young individuals through the dynamic mediums of participatory documentary making and graphic design. By placing the reins of storytelling and advocacy directly into the hands of the youth, the project not only empowers them but also ensures that the issues they address are profoundly relevant to their lives.
The Power of Participatory Documentary Making
One of the project's central strategies is the use of participatory documentary making. This approach enables young participants to dive headfirst into the issues they are most passionate about, turning their perspectives into powerful narratives. Through a series of workshops conducted by dedicated youth workers, 25 participants from each partner country will have the opportunity to develop their individual or small-group videos, shedding light on issues that resonate with them and their communities.
Unleashing Creative Potential
Simultaneously, "Directed By You(th)" recognizes the importance of creativity in the digital age. The inclusion of graphic design workshops ensures that the youth not only harness the power of visual storytelling but also gain valuable skills in video editing and graphic design—abilities that are becoming increasingly essential in today's rapidly digitalizing world.
Upcoming Workshops: Unleashing Creative Potential
The upcoming workshops organized by the Bulgarian partner, Know and Can Association, are poised to be a crucial step in the "Directed By You(th)" project. These sessions will provide young individuals with the tools, techniques, and guidance they need to turn their ideas into impactful videos and graphic campaigns.
Through a process of brainstorming, training, development, and editing, the workshops will offer a hands-on experience that empowers young voices to take center stage in shaping the narrative of their communities.
Stay tuned for updates on the Know and Can Association's website, where details about the workshops and how to get involved will be posted soon.
In the "Directed By You(th)" project, we witness the fusion of art, empowerment, and civic engagement—a testament to the potential that lies within each young individual to be a catalyst for positive change.
