VALITS Final partner meeting and conference

On October 1, 2018, in the office of Sea Teach, Cala d'Or, Mallorca, Spain, the final partner project meeting was held.
The latest intellectual products - a beta version of the online validation toolkit and the Career Targeting Application were presented.

Each of the partners developed the issues of two key transversal skills that can be evaluated. Questions include not only standard answers to questions but also interactive questions with time limit.
The two intellectual products are unified, have a very friendly interface, the ability to record in-between results. The products went through the internal testing phase, there are suggestions for product improvement that will be included in the final version of the products.

Validation tests and related career guidance are available on the project page http://valits.eu/o1/ where also the brochure of the latest project results can be found http://valits.eu/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Valits-Broschu%CC%88re-online.pdf

During a national meeting of career consultants in Zaragoza, Spain a month earlier, the idea of the validation toolkit and the related career guidance application was presented by the Spanish partner in the project. It has a very understandable interest, and during the final conference on the project, held at the Chamber of Commerce in Mallorca on 2 October, there were many representatives of organizations dealing with career counseling and guidance. After presenting the product to a wide audience, a large number of attendees immediately took advantage of the link to see it live. The app is also available for mobile phones, but the structure and content of the tests require a serious approach and it is desirable to use devices with larger monitors - tablets, laptops and desktops.

The conference itself went into two main modules. Presentation of the products of the project and after the brief pause session of questions and answers, the questions were asked to representatives of the tourism business of different levels and countries. The problem of heavy duty cycle during the active season and weak or even none during the weak season continues to be relevant despite the attempts of the business to create alternative tourism activities. At the same time, many jobs remain unoccupied during the active season, which reduces the quality of the services offered, and in some cases leads to financial losses and bankruptcies. Stimulating international exchanges of skilled workers within the tourism industry is an excellent opportunity to deal with both issues.
However, the validation toolkit and connected with it career guidance, based on the out-of-the-box survey conducted at the start of the project, provides guidance for finding work in other business areas, based on identified and evaluated transferable skills, and thus opportunities for tourism development other than tourism.
Many of the conference attendees shared that they would benefit from the application in their day-to-day work. We as a career consulting association also are going to use it as a tool.
