On 6th June 2020 in Chepelare, Bulgaria there was a policy makers meeting where information about project MEDIS was distributed. The mayor of Chepelre took active role in the meeting.
Chepelare is the principal town in Chepelare Municipality, part of Smolyan Province in Southern Bulgaria. It is situated in the central part of the Rhodopes, on the banks of Chepelare River.
The meeting was held in Chepelare, Bulgaria because it is a mountain region with hard-to-reach neighbourhoods where the people are from different social, ethnic and religious groups; people in weak socio-economic positions. That is why the project is quite interesting for the people from the municipality- as it aims to strengthen and consolidate social cohesion, intercultural education and local language in a multilingual framework of newly arrived migrants.
People from the municipality, including the mayor of Chepelare took part in the meeting and the team of Know and Can shared information about the main project results: Creating a school individual plan for reception and integration as a set of actions to attend to the incorporation of newly arrived migrant student; Implementtion of the Language Project; Intercultural education; Reception classroom; School Adaptation Workshops; Training for schools centres; Training and professional development of teachers on how to deal with diversity;
