On 12th February 2020 Know and Can travelled to one of its favourite destinations – the magnificent and colourful city of Porto, Portugal! The reason was to take part in the kick-off meeting of its brand new project – UP2B Boosting Up School Education towards European Citizenship and Labour Market Inclusion which was organised on 13th and 14th February 2020. We were very glad to meet again some of our oldest and most reliable partners and to meet some new ones as well.
UP2B project is a strategic partnership in the field of school education and the partnership is coordinated by APLOAD Lda (Portugal). The project aims to promote mechanisms that facilitate school motivation in the classroom through the use of pedagogical devices responsive to European Citizenship and sensitive to the requirements of the Labour Market. The proposal was based on a needs assessment carried out in previous projects allowing to identify lacks of these dimensions in schools in some European countries.
The meeting provided a great opportunity to discuss the project aims and objectives as well as to plan in details the implementation of the upcoming activities. Each partner organisation will be responsible for the management and coordination of a certain aspect of the project whether it is an intellectual output creation or a work package. The event was attended also by representatives of the Portuguese National agency who were impressed and satisfied by the professionalism and commitment of the partners and the foreseen activities.
A strong idea embodying UP2B project is taken from the Europa2020 Strategy: “Schools cannot effectively work alone. They need to move from isolated and short-term actions to engaging in a more holistic and systemic initiatives!”
