E-MotiOn project promotes inclusion, equal participation for all, and diversity in school education. Supporting students with fewer opportunities, those experiencing emotional and behavioral problems are one of the main target groups of the project’s activities. An inclusive approach for all students will be promoted, as teachers find it particularly difficult to connect with students, exposed to social exclusion, and the school and classroom climate can be damaged by their behaviour. Thus, an Inclusion and Diversity Strategy will support participants with fewer opportunities and help to address the obstacles they are facing and contribute to more inclusive and diverse education across Europe.
Adolescence is a unique and formative stage. Many physicals, emotional and social changes that occur including exposure to abuse, or violence can make adolescents vulnerable to mental health problems. This project will advocate for the importance of working on emotional education for young people in education. Within the educational process, there has been a tendency to privilege cognitive aspects over emotional ones. At the same time, this project aims to address creativity as an inclusive tool in the classroom. It is a cooperative project in which three forms of creativity will be worked on: linguistic, artistic, and musical, with the aim of analysing their usefulness for the inclusion of students. The creative and cooperative work training the key emotional competences of students will be a suitable tool to favour the inclusion of students from 10 to 12 years old. Children with social integration problems (shyness, who are going through difficult stages in their lives; loss of
their parents' jobs, not having a decent home, family economic problems, children with special educational needs, etc.).
These children are more vulnerable when it comes to social integration, which is why they will be one of the key elements in the E-MotiOn project, helping them in this integration process, fostering cooperative and inclusive values, motivation, and teamwork.
In December 2017, the European Council, the European Parliament, and the European Commission endorsed the adoption of the European Pillar of Social Rights. The agreement underlines the importance of the social, educational, and cultural dimensions of EU policies in building a common European future. Creativity is another key competence for the EU. The development of creativity in all ages of students is important as it allows them to face the challenges and problems they are likely to face throughout their lives with new and original points of view. Specifically, with the help of three creativities, students will learn how to deal with four emotional challenges (resilience, being able to take risks, fear management, and risk management) in the face of any adversity by encouraging their creativity.
