There are 23 official languages, 60 dialects and many other languages spoken by migrants and asylum seekers in Europe. This diversity brings a cultural richness but at the same time potential barriers for speakers who are not fluent in the language of the country where they are living.
The work on project Skills to Maximise Inclusion through Interpreting and Mediation (SMIIM) continues.
Over a period of two years (2017-2019), Community Action Dacorum will lead a partnership involving NGOs and other non-profit organisations in six European countries, utilising the partners' skills to produce training materials to support interpreters who find themselves at the forefront of problems involving social isolation among migrants.
A training course was held from October 31st to November 4th 2016 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The course was dedicated to organization of trainings and skills every educator and trainer should have. The course was carried out by 3 trainers from Know and Can Association. 10 civil servants from Middle Black Sea Development Agency- OKA (Samsun, Turkey) took part in it. The training was a part from project OKA is Empowering the Adult Education Team which is financed by Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 1. The training was made up by lectures, seminars, workshops, discussions and games.
Member of Know and Can team has participated a Training about building intercultural competences in SMEs hosting European mobilities, implemented by Erasmus+ program. The aim of the conducting of this training seminar was representatives of organizations, which send, coordinate and host Europeans mobility in Bulgaria, to develop their intercultural competence.
The event was held on 10th and 11th of March 2016 in Best Western Plus City Hotel, Sofia.
WORLD TVET 2015 Conference in Kuching, Malaysia/ Borneo/
“Bridging the gap between education and the world of work”
WORLD TVET 2015 Conference was organized in Kuching, Malaysia, at the beautiful island of Borneo, with more than 700 delegates from 28 different countries. All the participants are actively engaged in VET, human resource development and management activities which is a proof that TVET is a key interest area of many countries and actors.
One member of Know and Can Association took part in the training course Clothes make the Man? which was held between the 27-th of March and 5-th of April 2015 in Potsdam, Germany. The training was funded by Key Action 1 of the Erasmus + programme and was attended by 36 youth workers from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey.
Three members of Know and Can Association took part in the training course “SPLUSІІ”, which was held between the 7-th and 15-th of March 2015 in Marvao, Portugal. The training was organized under Key Action 1 of the Erasmus + programme and was attended by 26 youth workers from Bulgaria, Italy, United Kingdom, Croatia, Turkey, Greece, Romania, Portugal and Estonia.
Two members of Know and Can Association took part in the training course “Euro(EVS)Med Learning”, which was held between the 7-th and 15-th of November 2014 in Tukums, Latvia. The training was organized under Key Action 1 of the Erasmus + programme and was attended by 25 youth workers from Bulgaria, Latvia, Italy, United Kingdom, France, Croatia, Hungary, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Lebanon.
