Activities

To develop, pilot and implement a transnational and multidisciplinary training programme on child friendly -justice in cases of sexual violence against children for legal practitioners, police officers and welfare services’ staff on child-friendly justice in countries where the Lanzarote Convention has been recently ratified.

Activities
To research, analyse and assess partner countries’ specific judicial practices in cases of sexual violence against children with a particular emphasis on the child’s experience of the procedures.
To assess existing gaps in relation to the training needs of professionals involved in the judicial procedures in cases of sexual violence against children.
To highlight good practices on child-friendly judicial procedures in cases of sexual violence against children through a comprehensive GPMap (Good Practices Map) to be used as a reference for professionals in future judical procedures.

On January 15th and 16th 2016 seven organisations from six EU countries (Cyprus, Bulgaria, Italy, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom) have come together in Cyprus for the first partnership meeting of JudEx+: Towards a child-friendly justice in cases of sexual violence against children (JUST/2014/RCHI/AG/PROF/7036). The humanitarian and independent institution “Hope For Children” UNCRC Policy Center, is the leading partner of this project funded by the Rights, Equality & Citizenship programme of the European Union, implemented in cooperation with Know & Can (BG); Frederick University (CY); CESIE (IT); Folkuniversitetet (SE); University of Primorska (SI), and Rinova (UK).

citizenship.logoOn 13th of February 2016 was held the final partner meeting in connection to the project „Inter-Cultural Dimension for European Active Citizenship (IDEA-C)“ with project number: 555616-CITIZ-1-2014-IT-CITIZ-NT. The event took place in the city of Krakow(Poland). It was hosted by the Polish organisation „Multikultura”. Know and Can Association was represented by four experts from its staff. During the meeting were discussed: the results of the project; the plans for dissemination of the outcomes; and the future cooperation among partners. citizenship.logoOn 15th of December 2015 two experts from Know and Can Association organized a workshop in connection to the project „Inter-Cultural Dimension for European Active Citizenship (IDEA-C)“ - 555616-CITIZ-1-2014-IT-CITIZ-NT. The event was held in 119th High school „Acad.Mihail Arnaudov“. 22 students at the age of 16 and 17 took part in the workshop. Important themes as EU citizenship and opportunities for youth participation in EU projects were addressed.

Know and Can is happy to announce that became a partner in the project JudEx+: Towards a child-friendly justice in cases of sexual violence against children, with project number-JUST/2014/RCHI/AG/PROF/7036. The coordinator of the project is “Hope for Children” UNCRC Policy Center from Cyprus. The project is funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme. The main goals of the project are as follows:

  • To promote Article 12 of the UNCRC and the CoE Convention on the Protection of Children against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse in relation to the right of the child to be heard and involved in decision making, whether at home, in the general life of the community, at school or in individual legal or administrative matters in cases of sexual violence.
  • To improve the child’s experience position when entering the judicial system in cases of sexual violence against children
  • To improve the skills of professionals involved in representing children in judicial proceedings through trainings which take into consideration children’s rights, their developmental needs and social background in countries where the Lanzarote Convention has been recently ratified.

citizenship.logoThe Chairwoman and Financial manager of Know and Can represented the Association during the third partner meeting in Bremen, Germany under the project „Inter-Cultural Dimension for European Active Citizenship (IDEA-C)“ - 555616-CITIZ-1-2014-IT-CITIZ-NT. The event was hosted by the German partner organization- M2C Institut für angewandte Medienforschung GmbH.

citizenship.logoTwo experts from Know and Can Association took part in the conference and the second partner meeting under project „Inter-Cultural Dimension for European Active Citizenship (IDEA-C)“ - 555616-CITIZ-1-2014-IT-CITIZ-NT, on the 22-nd of May 2015. The events were held in the Municipality of Kistarcsa (Hungary). During the conference two experts from France and Slovenia conducted sessions which were focused on the democratic workings of the EU and the functioning of the European institutions.
