PAIR- we are working on the protocol!

pair final logoWe are happy to announce that we are actively working on the the PAIR protocol.

The exercise protocol is for subjects who have completed the rehabilitative treatment after THR/TKR (total hip or knee replacement). This task will be accomplished by a multi professional group to get added value by the interaction of knowledge of the different expertise backgrounds.
The PA program will be based on best practices and published evidences at international level, in terms of type of exercise, frequency, duration of session and intensity progression. Given the priority on safety in the design of the PAIR program, its design will take into account patients’ preferences and expectations, type of surgical interventions, functional status and comorbid conditions.
The PAIR exercise protocol aims to support patients to regain functioning and to attain optimal activity and participation in social and vocational domains. Specifically, it will be focused to reduce risk of falls, mitigate or prevent disability associated with comorbid conditions. The PA program will also have the goal to help subjects to restart sport activities and other vocational activities compatible with the type of surgery in the long term, even beyond the end of the PAIR project. Finally, PAIR will be focused to promote active and healthy ageing, according to the bio-psycho-social comprehensive approach of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, developed by the WHO (World Health Organization).
