Dear friends and colleagues, we are writing to you regarding an initiative to collect donations and material aid for the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. We have contacted one of the temporary collection points organized by McCann Sofia to collect donations in Sofia.
When and where will donations be collected for the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey?
At the McCann Agency point: donations will be collected today (07.02) and tomorrow (08.02) between 10:00 and 17:30 at the McCann Agency, Shipka 23 street, telephone 0885999766.
If you have smaller items, you can leave them in our office and we will take them to the McCann Agency. You can leave your donation at the office of the Know and Can Association at Praga 8 blvd., Sofia today (February 7) until 19:00 and tomorrow (February 8) from 9:00 to 14:30.
What donations can I make for the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey?
Here is a list of essentials:
- Gloves, jackets, scarves, hats (must be new); shoes (may be used but in good condition);
- Blankets (may be used, but in good condition)
- Gas heaters for outdoor heating
- Diapers, sanitary napkins, baby food; personal care products
- Coal stoves
- Tents
- Camping chairs and tables
- Disposable towels for showers
- Batteries
- First aid kits
- Indoor lighting for tents with batteries
- Large mattresses and sleeping bags
Are there things I better not bring for the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey?
Please do not send old clothes (the Turkish side is not accepting them at this stage for hygiene reasons) and goods and products with a short shelf life, because the infrastructure in Turkey and Syria has been badly damaged and many buses are having difficulty getting to the worst affected areas
As the situation is very dynamic, organisations are in contact with the Ambassador to clarify a more detailed list of essentials.
I would like to bring items for the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. How can I contact you?
We remain available on Facebook, email
The Know and Can team send their sincerest condolences to everyone who has lost a loved one in the terrible disaster in Syria and Turkey and positive thoughts to all those affected and their loved ones.
