Action for Wide Awareness Rising in Europe:
The proposed action aims at establishing a Multi-actor European Awareness Rising Network which should promote awareness rising initiatives through formal and informal educational channels. The network will initially involve six EU Member countries and will directly involve youngsters in Europe with debates and concrete proposals focusing on achieving universal primary education - the second objective of the Millennium Development Goals – taking as a geographical priority the sub-Saharan Africa area.
This priority will be tackled based on a “human rights” perspective sharing especially the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and focusing on the right of achieving universal primary education. Other topics like migration, trade, security, and HIV/AIDS will be included when referring directly to children and their rights. During the 18 months of the project, youngsters – supported by partners’ organizations and their stakeholders - will interact and work together with Public Authorities, private NGOs, young people and educational agencies in order to prepare the Week of the Intercultural Dialogue on the Second Millennium Development Goal. The Week will officially establish and present the new Network and its 2 first official products: 1) Logo, a slogan and a radio-spot as a result of the competition called “Come into play! Create your awareness campaign on sub-Saharan Africa children’s’ rights; 2) a Working Agenda with concrete proposals to include public awareness rising in all EU thematic programmes.
