International Training "Micro-credentials & Professionalization Pathways in Adult Education" in Croatia
From 26 to 30 January 2026, representatives of Know and Can participated in the international training course "Micro-credentials & Professionalization Pathways in Adult Education", organised by USTANOVA ZA OBRAZOVANJE ODRASLIH DANTE in Opatija, Croatia.
The event brought together representatives of educational institutions, NGOs, public authorities and experts from across Europe to exchange good practices, establish new international partnerships and discuss the future of adult education, lifelong learning and European cooperation.
The five-day programme combined expert presentations, interactive workshops and networking activities focusing on European adult education policies, Erasmus+ opportunities, project development and international cooperation.
A special focus was placed on the implementation of micro-credentials in adult education and their links with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF), ESCO, European Digital Credentials (EDC) and the EU Digital Identity Wallet. Participants also explored the future competences required for adult educators in the context of digital transformation, artificial intelligence and rapidly changing labour market needs.
The training featured distinguished European experts, including Katarina Popović, Secretary General of the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE), and Greta Pelucco, Senior EU Public Affairs Coordinator at the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA).
Throughout the programme, participants discussed innovative educational approaches, future policy developments, sustainable international cooperation and the balance between technological innovation and the human dimension of adult learning. Numerous networking sessions enabled participants to exchange successful practices, identify common interests and develop ideas for future collaborative projects under Erasmus+, CERV and Digital Europe programmes.
Participation in the training strengthened Know and Can's international network and opened new opportunities for future European cooperation. The team gained valuable knowledge on European policy priorities, micro-credentials, digital credentials and innovative learning approaches while enhancing their intercultural, communication and partnership-building competences.
The participants highlighted the networking sessions as one of the most valuable aspects of the event, providing excellent opportunities to establish new partnerships, exchange project ideas and build long-term international cooperation. They described the training as an inspiring professional experience that will directly support the development of future European projects and innovative educational initiatives.
By participating in this international training, Know and Can continues to strengthen its expertise in adult education, promote lifelong learning and actively contribute to the implementation of innovative European educational practices that respond to the evolving needs of learners, educators and society.
