Name: Quality Learning Experience=Quality Active Ageing

Every country analysis in Europe shows that in each country the population is increasingly ageing. For old people, especially when retired, there is increased importance in receiving a quality opportunity as attendance at classes are often the few times they leave their house and have social interaction.

Lifelong learning is an important contributor to active ageing and ensures that people stay active, have a sense of purpose, do not become socially isolated (with impacts on mental health) and increase their circle of friends to rely upon. The project will research these links from a community perspective and promote how to maximise the positive outcome that result.

Collecting good practices from the participant countries, adapting and implementing them at home country, preparation of collective enhanced recommendations will enrich the possibilities for the old people to have more opportunities for active social life.

This project brings together partners with a commitment to working pro-actively and creatively with the project target group and putting in practice ways to engage and motivate older people in active learning.

  • Seven short-term joint staff training events with 84 mobilities plus local participants.
  • Approximate 28 staff undertaking mobilities (each more than one) have increased skills and knowledge of strategies to engage learners.
  • Seven training event reports will be published outlining the programme, learning objectives and outcomes, identified good practice and participant feedback/ quotes.
  • Preparing and publishing the Good Practice Guide on How Learning Contributes to Active Ageing

Quality Active Ageing - project timeline

The Quality Active Ageing project aims will be achieved over a 30 month period through the seven partners each hosting a short-term joint staff training event, developing collaborative networks/ approaches and the creation of a Good Practice Guide on How Learning Contributes to Active Ageing.

Quality learning experience - Quality active ageing

QAA aims are to enhance the provision and quality of learning opportunities for seniors through like minded partners coming together to showcase their current provision, provide a forum for new ideas, identify and promote good practice. It is important, increased longevity is coupled with quality of life through active ageing and steps are taken to ensure through healthy living that older citizens remain independent as long as possible and contribute to society. Remaining active can reduce the likelihood of dementia (which is an increasing concern across Europe) and other health conditions.
